In the last episode of Friday Night Smackdown, we probably witnessed the last chapter of the Big E vs Apollo Crews saga, with the Fatal 4 Way valid for the Intercontinental Championship in which Big E, Apollo Crews, but also Sami Zayn took part.
and Kevin Owens, who was in effect the last chance received by the former New Day, now defeated for the umpteenth time. Immediately after the attack suffered by the hand, or rather "by foot" of Aleister Black, it seems that the WWE is willing to set up a feud between the former New Day member and the dark fighter who has just returned to the television screens of the federation, after weeks of a forced stop.
It is now clear, in fact, especially after the latest attacks arrived at the hands of Aleister also on his social networks, that between the two there will be a fairly felt feud, which will lead them to clash several times in the company's rings.
What are WWE's plans for the Intercontinental Championship?
As hypothesized by Dave Meltzer in one of his latest updates to the Wrestling Observer radio program, WWE will most likely now move Apollo Crews towards Kevin Owens, given that the Canadian seems to have remained the only babyface he can immediately contrast with the defending champion.
In fact, Meltzer's words were these: "They gave Aleister Black a show with Big E. Big E is now out of the Intercontinental Championship loop. I don't know, therefore, it could be Kevin Owens (who goes for the title ed), or rather he would be the only person to bet on more intensely because Sami is a heel, so Owens is probably the right guy to send against Apollo Crews." Obviously, everything seems to be just a hypothesis of Meltzer at the moment, even if for how things are going at Smackdown, in the secondary title round, Kevin Owens seems to be really the only candidate to go against the champion, unless the WWE does not want to build some new feud, inserting characters such as Shinsuke Nakamura or several other emerging talents in the titled round, which would refresh the category, but at the risk of burning them immediately.
Apollo Crews came out on top in the first-ever Nigerian Drum Fight to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion at WrestleMania 37. Crews defeated Big E despite looking like he would be on the losing end, all thanks to a little help from a new ally.
The match itself was a real nail-biter, as both Apollo Crews and Big E went to war with each other. The Nigerian Drum Fight stipulation was essentially a Street Fight, but with drums involved.
