Recently, we brought you the news that Jon Moxley and his wife Renee Paquette became parents to a daughter, Nora. Renee made the announcement via a tweet where she explained that she would take a well-deserved break from her podcast to mum with some guests who would take her place as presenters.
In a Q&A that Jon Moxley later held, the athlete and new father was asked about his newborn daughter and her possible future in wrestling.
Jon Moxley will be away from AEW for an undisclosed period
During the latest episode of Renee Paquette's podcast, Oral Sessions, Moxley answered the question if he would be willing to support his daughter if she decides to enter the wrestling business.
“She If she was really passionate about it then yes, go ahead. If she wasn't, if she just wanted to play, then play it. Sometimes things get you and you just want to play. Sometimes you want something, for me it was like that, it was all I ever wanted to do [...] I would evaluate where his mentality is and if he were like 'Hey, come in and take a shot, see how you feel' then maybe everything would change.
So yes, but if she wanted to become a circus performer, a math teacher or join the Peace Corps or become a professional wrestler or hockey or ringet player ... I say, do what you want to do, I would support you." He was also then asked how he would react to the possibility that his daughter might be interested in doing a Deathmatch: "It's hard to say because this person doesn't exist yet.
So I don't know her. The initial instinct would be, okay, maybe not, I'd say no, I'd drive it. […] If she wanted to get into wrestling I would guide her and make sure she did it correctly and safely and fairly”.
Beautiful words from Moxley. Every parent should always support the dreams of their children, even if there is no possibility, for whatever reason, of being able to realize them immediately, even just the gesture of letting their children know that you are there is wonderful.
Jon Moxley will be away from AEW for an undisclosed period to welcome the arrival of his unborn baby daughter with Renee Paquette. The broadcast team revealed the news on this week's episode of AEW Dynamite. Moxley was in action at AEW Double or Nothing 2021, where he and Eddie Kingston challenged AEW Tag Team Champions Young Bucks. After a remarkable back-and-forth contest, the champions retained their titles.
