Lana reveals Vince McMahon's message after her release

On June 2, WWE released Lana, Aleister Black, Braun Strowman and several other superstars, ending their run to general amazement. Despite having succeeded in continuing its shows, the Stamford-based federation also had to manage the harsh consequences of the outbreak of the pandemic.

Vince McMahon's company was able to host a slice of the public only at WrestleMania 37, while for the rest it had to settle for closed-door and often pre-recorded shows. During the latest edition of 'Talk is Jericho', Lana thought extensively about her career in WWE and her firing.

Lana was let go by the company on June 2

“I received a message from Vince McMahon shortly after my release,” explained Lana. “I was definitely excited, even though it was time to say goodbye. Vince thanked me for my amazing work ethic and my relentless desire to be the best superstar possible.

He also said thank you for all the contribution I have made to WWE. That message had a particular meaning for me, in fact I thanked him for everything he taught me. I have learned so much both personally and professionally. I will always be incredibly grateful to him” - she added.

Vince McMahon had selected Lana as the only survivor of the 2020 Survivor Series (without eliminating anyone) thinking she was hilarious. “He was convinced that it would be a fun thing, that I win without eliminating anyone.

Shane McMahon also thought such an idea would be successful. It was something that had never been done before”. After triumphing at the Survivor Series, Lana teamed up with Asuka and Naomi, but she was unable to clinch the Women's Tag Team Championship.

However, she remained a regular on Monday Night Raw, so much so that she appeared on the red show less than two days before her estrangement. All that remains is to wish them good luck for the future. Speaking on Chris Jericho’s Talk Is Jericho podcast, Lana said she and Naomi were supposed to feud with current Women’s Tag Team Champions Natalya and Tamina: “Of course I’m devastated,” Lana said.

“Of course I was like, ‘Well, damn, could you at least…’ We were promised to go into a program with Nattie and Tamina after the titles, me and Naomi. To go into a program with them, go after the titles, and we were supposed to be possibly champions. All that stuff I take with a grain of salt. I was very lucky that I got booked until the day I got fired”.
