Kurt Angle tells a beautiful episode about Chris Benoit

Chris Benoit's name is rarely heard in the world of professional wrestling, obviously thanks to the well-known tragedy that has damaged WWE and the business in general. However, there is no shortage of opportunities to remember his exploits in the ring, being unanimously considered a genius from a technical point of view.

During the last edition of the 'Kurt Angle Show', the WWE Hall of Famer told of an incident between Benoit and Diamond Dallas Page that took place several years ago. DDP and the Canadian champion worked together in WCW, where they faced off on numerous occasions, sending fans in raptures.

Page set up a 12-page script for one of his matches with Benoit, but Benoit wasn't quite the same idea. Despite the three-time WCW world champion's efforts to meet his rival for his usual pre-match schedule, Chris didn't appear backstage until five minutes before stepping into the ring.

Chris Benoit was one of the best all-time performers

“I've never worked directly with him (DDP), so I can't 100% confirm it. I've heard a lot about this script that Page put together. In fact, Chris Benoit told me that DDP wrote 12 pages of script for one of their matches and that he didn't want to listen to him.

He told me that he tore it up and left the arena, while DDP was looking for him because he was anxious just minutes from the start of the fight. Benoit didn't show up until five minutes before the challenge, so it was now impossible to stick to that script.

Chris used that ploy to prevent the meeting from being too anchored to a rigid script. This is what he brought back to me. I don't know how true that is, but I believe him with all my heart as he has always been honest with me” - said Kurt Angle.

This story is yet another example of the boundless stage talent of one of the best performers of the modern era. Kurt Angle has revealed he could not fulfill two of his dream matches in WWE. The Hall of Famer claims he wanted to face Daniel Bryan and Bret Hart, but things did not go to plan.

"I always wanted to work with Dolph. From the beginning when I came back to WWE, he was on my radar. The kid is such a special talent, he can do just about anything and I think that his size really helps him. He's a little bit smaller, so he's able to do a lot more.

But I've always loved his work. I've been a big fan of him since he started and I would have loved to have a match with him. He wasn't my dream match per se: Daniel Bryan was, or Bret Hart," said Kurt Angle.
