Former WWE star pays tribute to AJ Styles

Getting into the WrestleMania card is certainly any wrestler's dream. During a long exclusive interview with Sportskeeda, Killian Dain - better known as Big Damo - recalled his debut in the 33rd edition of the 'Showcase of the Immortals'

Dain took part in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, which was ultimately won by a surprising Mojo Rawley. Despite not having managed to win the contest, Damo fully honored his appearance in Mania, having remained in the ring in the crucial moments together with Jinder Mahal and Rawley himself.

Dain revealed how a backstage chat with AJ Styles helped him relieve the tremendous tension that gripped him before stepping onto the square. The Irish superstar had previously worked with Styles on a UK tour just weeks before AJ debuted at the 2016 Royal Rumble.

AJ Styles is one of the best pro wrestlers in the world

“It was a really emotional moment. I was about to walk in when AJ Styles came to me for a chat. We knew each other quite well, having been together for a series of shows in the UK a couple of years earlier.

On the eve of his WWE debut at the 2016 Royal Rumble, we had toured Britain in front of 200 people every night. He came up laughing and said to me: 'From 200 people to this ocean crowd' That sentence helped to break all the tension I was feeling at that juncture,” said Damo.

AJ Styles has always had the development of young talent at heart: “Mentoring the promises of the industry is a job that would be up to anyone 20 years or more of service in wrestling. The veterans helped me a lot in time of him.

Just think of John Cena's contribution, I myself learned a lot from that boy. It is right that he now passes on my knowledge to those who need it to continue the tradition," he confided in an interview with Corey Graves.

Even before signing with WWE, AJ Styles was already one of the best pro wrestlers in the world. He has shared the ring with a number of top stars from around the world while wrestling in various promotions. However, one of Styles' opponents stands out because of their long-standing rivalry: Samoa Joe.

The two stars have feuded across different promotions and will always remain each other's most iconic foes. "AJ [Styles] always has impeccably smelling conditioner in his hair. It's always very pleasant for me. I get a little lavender, a little lilac with my pain and agony. It's a rare thing, you don't get that combination and you can't buy that in the street."
