When news broke that Jimmy Uso was arrested for speeding and driving in an altered state, many speculated that WWE would take serious action against him. Contrary to expectations, the issue has mysteriously passed on the sly, given that the Stamford-based federation has decided not to upset the current feuds.
As if that weren't enough, the Usos even took home the SmackDown Tag Team titles in the latest 'Money in the Bank' pay-per-view. Every member of 'The Bloodline' has a belt around their waist now, but the controversy surrounding the most recent changes continues.
During the last edition of 'Legion of RAW', which airs every week on Sportskeeda, former WWE and WCW writer Vince Russo analyzed why WWE seems to be turning a blind eye to Jimmy's arrest.
Vince Russo talks about Jimmy Uso
"The only explanation I can think of is that WWE intends to use Jimmy Uso's problem within a storyline.
I think sooner or later Jimmy will confess to Roman Reigns that he has a drinking problem and doesn't know how to get out of it. It would not be the first time that we have seen such a move and it must be admitted that it has often proved profitable in the past years” - explained Vince Russo.
The use of elements taken from real life captures the attention of fans: "The story of similar events tends to bring people closer to the show, as it makes it more credible. In this way, it is possible to attribute a positive side to a situation that should lead to the exact opposite."
Recently, John Cena's former manager - Kenny Bolin - had strongly criticized the WWE's choice. “As far as I'm concerned, Jimmy Uso shouldn't even have entered the arena. He cannot go unnoticed such an episode, it is a bad message.
Speaking to various superstars, insiders and staff members, a general concern has emerged about what Jimmy Uso is going through. It is not the first time this has happened, so it cannot be defined as a hiccup”. On Sunday, WWE RAW Superstar Roman Reigns successfully defended his Universal Championship against Edge at Money in the Bank 2021.
The pay-per-view also saw the SmackDown Tag Team Championships change hands as The Usos defeated Rey and Dominik Mysterio for their titles. The Bloodline walked out of the event with all the gold, but some fans were unhappy with the booking.
Jimmy Uso was recently arrested under DUI charges. His championship win at Money in the Bank 2021 led fans into questioning the promotion’s leniency towards the issue. Former WWE head writer Vince Russo suggested that the creative team should have involved Jimmy’s real-life incident in the storyline to draw more heat towards Roman Reigns.
