New details on Adam Cole's WWE status

A few days ago we let you know that Adam Cole has an expiring contract with WWE, in fact in the week after Summerslam the man will become a free agent available to any federation. Actually, he was already supposed to end his relationship with the company for The Great American Bash, but he decided to renew by extending his stay at NXT to end the feud against Kyle O'Reilly at TakeOver 36.

In fact, right now the two are 1- 1 all-in, with one match apiece won, so there is an absolute need to crown a final winner. Booker T also wanted to speak about him. This is an excerpt of what he said, “Surely All Elite Wrestling would be interested in talent like Adam Cole, obviously in case he were to break free.

I think he should work hard as long as he is under contract with WWE, then eventually he will think about what comes next."

Adam Cole still does not have a long-term deal with WWE

According to reports from our colleagues at Fighful Select, Adam Cole's colleague, Pete Dunne, has a contract due to expire shortly, with a situation similar to that which the former leader of the Undisputed Era is experiencing.

This is the information provided by the site: "Fightful Select has learned that Pete Dunne's contract with NXT will soon expire with a source that also indicates 'After Summerslam weekend,' although we have not yet confirmed that date with Dunne or the WWE."

In recent weeks Pete Dunne has been a big star on NXT, with what appears to be the formation of a new trio along with the return of Ridge Holland and a possible feud with Samoa Joe. What is sure about this whole situation is that WWE absolutely must not miss two talents like Dunne and Cole, who are much loved by the public of the yellow-black brand.

SummerSlam will take place on August 21st, and WWE officials will be hoping to complete their negotiations with Adam Cole before it gets too late. The former North American champion is one of NXT's most established stars, and his surprising contract situation with WWE has naturally given rise to rumors of a possible AEW move.

While AEW continues to onboard some highly-rated talent, could Adam Cole follow suit and join his girlfriend, Britt Baker, in Tony Khan's company?
