Riddle explains why WWE decided to change his name

Before his name was changed, Riddle was known by the WWE Universe as 'Matt Riddle' The famous 'MR' logo was also based on his full name and was embossed on the merchandise named after him available on the WWE store's official website.

In October last year, the Stamford-based federation announced that his nickname would be shortened and fans have gradually gotten used to this change. During a long interview with Ariel Helwani for 'BT Sport', Riddle shed some light on the name issue and shared his thoughts on the current situation in WWE.

“I think there were problems with them being undecided whether I should be called Matt or Matthew. I personally have always preferred Matthew, but the commentators called me Matt first and this ended up confusing people.

One day they contacted me to tell me that my name would be shortened and that the WWE Universe would only know me as Riddle. I did not oppose that decision," explained the member of 'RK-Bro' Riddle has never hidden his desire to work with Brock Lesnar sooner or later.

The Beast returned to WWE last Saturday at SummerSlam, ending an absence of over a year. The former Universal champion showed up at the end of the main event between John Cena and Roman Reigns to challenge the latter. With the cameras off, Lesnar raged on poor Cena and also inflicted a devastating F-5 on him.

“I am happy that Brock is back in the ring. Fans missed a character like him and we all saw the impact of him. I think he shouldn't have challenged Roman Reigns, but he's just my point of view. People have grown very fond of that belt, so I understand his choice.

I'm sure a beautiful storyline will come out of it,” Riddle analyzed, good at getting his relationship with Randy Orton back on track. Riddle continued that RK-Bro was, in fact, moving the needle by selling merchandise and getting over with the fans.

“You're not moving needles. I'm the real stallion, RK-Bro is moving the merch, we're moving the needle, and that's it. I don't want to say too much, I'm not trying to get in trouble. Hey, hats off to him. He's amazing at what he does.

I do like what he does, but at the same time, it's like, get off your high horse”. Riddle has been on the fast track to superstardom since forming RK-Bro with Randy Orton. The pairing was much loved by the WWE Universe and brought a breath of fresh air to Monday Night Raw.
