Goldberg made his umpteenth return to WWE in the post-pay-per-view episode of Raw Money in the Bank, appearing in the ring for the second time in 2021 following the match against Drew McIntyre at the Royal Rumble. Bill started a very heated feud with Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship but was unable to take the title in that of SummerSlam also due to an injury.
Lashley's subsequent attack on Gage (Goldberg's son) further fueled the fire of their rivalry, which looks set to continue for a while. The four-time world champion has in fact declared that he is no longer interested in the WWE title, but only wants to avenge his wounded pride in him by tearing the soul from the chest of 'The All Mighty'
It has already been announced that the showdown between the two will take place at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia in October. During a long interview with 'ViBe & Wrestling', Damian Priest said he met Goldberg immediately after winning the US title at SummerSlam.
Goldberg made his umpteenth return to WWE
“Most WWE superstars are quite reserved, but that's not a criticism of them. Each has its own character and there are exceptions” - Priest said. “When I saw Goldberg at SummerSlam, he came to greet me minutes after I took the US title, he hugged me and complimented me.
He confided to me that he was happy with what I had achieved, even though we didn't even know each other until that moment. I don't know how many would have done such a thing for him. Such a gesture has enormous value if it comes from a legend like Goldberg, who theoretically should not give a damn about someone like me.
For him, that moment will have meant nothing, while I will keep it for the rest of my life. Edge also congratulated me on him. They are all boys I idolized when I was younger,” he concluded. Back in 2019, Goldberg made his return to WWE to take on The Undertaker in Saudi Arabia.
Around the same time, Riddle began taking shots at the latter. He even went as far as saying that the WCW icon was the worst wrestler in the business. The two had a tense and awkward interaction backstage at SummerSlam 2019. Their relationship has improved with the passage of time.
Here's what The King of Bros had to say about the former Universal Champion in a recent interview: "Bill Goldberg is extremely entertaining, I can't take anything away from that but I'll tell you this, I saw Bill the other day before he challenged Bobby Lashley and he was walking to the Gorilla Position and I was standing there and I was with Damian Priest at the time and he says hi to everybody and then Goldberg comes up to me gives me a look."
