Why is Rey Mysterio no longer fighting?

Rey Mysterio has been missing for some time, no longer fighting in SmackDown where in recent months he has been paired especially with his son Dominik. But what is the reason for his absence? The answer comes from America, where it is claimed that an injury is a reason for the absence of the San Diego fighter.

'Fightful Select' reports learning why Rey Mysterio is standing still. Mister 619 was stopped by the company turning out to be unable to fight at the WWE house show held this Saturday in San Juan, Puerto Rico, at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico.

The reasons, at least according to what has been learned from the popular overseas site, are currently limited to an "undisclosed medical reason". Rey Mysterio was originally advertised to take on the Bloodline as part of a six-man tag team match at the San Juan show.

Latest update on Rey Mysterio

It is therefore not yet clear what the exact medical problem is and how long the former WWE champion will be out of action. Recall that Rey Mysterio was just drafted on Raw, after making a fleeting appearance on SmackDown on Friday night.

But, in fact, without a fight. In the fateful Puerto Rico house show, Dominick Mysterio defeated Jinder Mahal while Finn Bàlor, Drew McIntyre & Cesaro defeated Roman Reigns & The Usos in a six-man tag team match.

It should be remembered that Rey Mysterio while teaming up with his son Dominik, at the moment does not seem willing to challenge his son in a family feud that could take place later in time. He recently revealed it himself, speaking to the microphones of Metro, in an interview granted to Alistair McGeorge.

"The more we spent time in the ring, the more we talked about this opportunity but both Dominik and I have always been of the same opinion and that is that there is no need," he'd declared in that circumstance. Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik had some fascinating contests with The Alpha Academy in early 2021.

Both teams displayed their in-ring abilities in the hunt to get a tag team title shot at the time. Alpha Academy brought the brut force of Otis alongside the athleticism of Chad Gable. The Mysterios relied on their high-flying maneuvers in the ring.

With both teams now drafted to Monday Night RAW, they can undoubtedly renew their rivalry on the red brand, providing much excitement for the WWE Universe. The contest will see babyface Mysterios pitted against the rising heels of Alpha Academy.
