While the great Crown Jewel match between Roman Reigns and the Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar (to be held on October 21st) is now missing, the WWE continues with other themes and in particular, there is an expectation for who will be the next King of the Ring.
Among these is unexpectedly advancing the candidacy of Xavier Woods, a member of the New Day who has advanced to the next round. This choice has made several of the professionals and the media turn up their noses with the sympathetic and athletic wrestler deemed unsuitable to have such an important role within the company.
During an interview with Sportkeeda Wrestling the former WWE booker Dutch Mantell discussed with Rick Ucchino and Sid Pullar III and explained what did not convince him of this situation.
Dutch Mantell on Xavier Woods
During the show, Mantell spoke about Xavier Woods like this: "I like Xavier Woods as a wrestler.
I remember the times when he started in the company, but honestly, I do not consider his meeting with Roman Reigns suitable. He needs a lot of character work but I don't think it's doable for him and he's not strong enough.
He has been working with New Day for almost 10 years and now his career is linked to him. There should be a lot of work to break away and be able to challenge him but I don't think that's possible." Before challenging the possible King of The Ring in the future, Roman Reigns is forced into a major challenge against The Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar.
However, the latest rumors seem to say good to the Tribal Chief as it appears that Brock Lesnar will take a break after this meeting and consequently it appears unlikely that WWE will win The Beast Incarnate by removing the title from the main character not only of Friday Night Smackdown but of the entire main roster of Vince McMahon's company.
Currently, the precedents between the two see Lesnar in the lead with the result of 2 to 1. Last year, Roman Reigns returned to WWE at SummerSlam and laid out Bray Wyatt, the Universal Champion at the time. A week later, Reigns captured the title by defeating Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman in a triple threat match at WWE Payback.
Reigns has been champion for over 411 days now. However, he will face his most formidable challenger yet in the form of Brock Lesnar. The two are set to collide at Crown Jewel on this Thursday.
