Vince Russo opens up on Paige's possible return

Over the past few weeks, speculation has intensified regarding Paige's possible return to the ring. The 29-year-old was forced to retire from wrestling in 2018 due to a serious neck injury. A few days ago, Paige herself had suggested her potential re-entry by posting on Twitter a photo of her old boots along with the Divas Championship.

The former NXT champion was one of the most popular WWE superstars between 2014 and 2018, having participated in two editions of WrestleMania during that time. Earlier this month, reports revealed that Paige earned nearly $ 500,000 from her Twitch job between September 2019 and September 2021.

In a recent interview with Sportskeeda, the former writer of the WWE and WCW, Vince Russo wanted to give Paige some advice by mentioning the returns of Bryan Danielson, Christian, Edge and Sting as examples.

“The fact that all these champions have decided to interrupt their retirement to return to the ring does not necessarily mean that it is the right choice.

If you are in a precarious condition and a bad shot is enough for your life to be ruined, I would think very carefully before making any move” - Vince Russo warned. “Turning to the case, I don't know exactly what Paige has in mind, but I'm pretty worried about it.

If I were her, I would feel lucky not to have suffered even worse injuries. Do you want to jeopardize her health again? Do you really need it? I hope you have asked yourself questions of this kind” - he added. On April 10, 2018, the day after her retirement, Paige was named the new General Manager of SmackDown (taking over from Daniel Bryan).

Her mandate officially ended on January 1 of the following year. She then had a brief spell as manager of the Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane), before embarking on a new adventure as a columnist in the PPV pre-show. Paige made her main roster debut following WrestleMania in April 2014.

She immediately headed into a storyline with AJ Lee. The pair became friends and foes over the span of the year. Their feud ended in November that year, and a short while later, AJ Lee took some time off to heal some pre-existing injuries.

It was the same year that CM Punk walked out of WWE. It was speculated that AJ would soon follow, with her being Punk's partner. Paige was placed in a feud with The Bella Twins during AJ's sabbatical.
