Yesterday we reported that the two current WWE champions had a nasty backstage fight following the segment that aired on Friday Night SmackDown, which was supposed to represent a fairly peaceful exchange of belts between the two.
Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan, with the situation rapidly degenerating, leading to a series of events in the Gorilla Position that ruined the evening even more. The segment was also cut and edited differently by FOX in the streaming version available for American fans.
A major update has come out regarding Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair's backstage confrontation on last night's SmackDown. The original plans were those that saw Becky Lynch take the title from Charlotte's hands to brag that she was "Becky Two Belts" again before Sonya forced her to give her title to the Queen.
Charlotte, however, did not agree with this plan and therefore she seems to have sabotaged everything about her by dropping her belt.
Backstage news on Becky Lynch
However, once backstage, Charlotte stated that it was accidental, that she wasn't going to drop her belt to the ground.
All of this according to Fightful, who also added: “We were also told that Charlotte Flair was asked to leave the building before the end of Becky Lynch's dark match to avoid further confrontations and let things calm down." Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, connecting to these words, tweeted: "Charlotte was actually escorted out of the building by security last night." It was also confirmed by PW Insider, that no one blamed Becky for reacting by throwing the title to Charlotte, indeed, in the eyes of all backstage it was the blonde who went wrong by behaving as she did, thus legitimizing the response of the Irishman who defended himself in his own way.
It also seems that, as stated yesterday, Charlotte, after the confrontation with Becky, ran away in a hurry from the Gorilla Position avoiding a confrontation with Vince McMahon, who seems not to have appreciated it. For now though, despite all the problems that the Nature Boy's daughter is going through in WWE, with people worrying that she might leave, there doesn't seem to be a chance that she will move into AEW, alongside boyfriend Andrade who has made himself heard with a heavy tweet.
Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair were once inseparable. However, the two have drifted apart over the past three years. In August, Charlotte got candid about how they aren't as close anymore. "Honestly, I don't think anything happened.
I really think that she and I depended so much on each other as best friends, and it was easy. She was my ride or die, my go-to, and, like, just needed to happen. I met [Andrade], she met Seth. Her career took off," said Charlotte.
