Xavier Woods recalls his victory at Crown Jewel

In an interview with the New York Post, King of the Ring 2021, Xavier Woods, talked about his victory and coronation at WWE Crown Jewel, with many Superstars from both WWE and other federations supporting him a lot. All hail King Xavier Woods.

The finals of the 2021 WWE King of Ring took place this afternoon in Saudi Arabia at WWE Crown Jewel. The match saw New Day's Xavier Woods defeat former WWE Universal Champion Finn Balor to become King of the Ring for the first time.

On emotions: "The support I received is great. Current wrestling is very different from what it was 10, 15 or even 20 years ago. With social networks, you can connect with people like me who want to interact with others who have to do with wrestling.

So it's nice to be able to talk to those people directly and let them know how I feel. I think everyone can relate in this way. They can relate to someone who has a goal, a dream they are trying to achieve. They see that person working hard just like they do in life, either to get a new job or to get a promotion somewhere.

I really think social media has given me this opportunity. Doing things like UpUpDownDown gave me this chance. There are a lot of players I relate to. When they meet me they say 'oh are you fighting?' And they start watching wrestling and say 'what is King Of The Ring?' And then through my social networks, I am able to explain it to them better, even if they don't watch wrestling yet."

On his victory: "I did not know when the King Of The Ring Tournament could return. I did not even know if it could really return. But I have always kept myself ready, until now. For a long time, I have told everyone that the New Day would become a Tag-team champion and, in the end, we did.

For a long time I told everyone that Kofi was going to be WWE Champion and, in the end, he succeeded. Finally, I also said that I wanted to become King Of The Ring, before leaving the company, and I have become one. This crown is a physical representation of all the work I've done throughout my career and everything I've been trying to achieve for so long."

Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston move back to SmackDown in the 2021 WWE Draft after only being reunited with WWE Champion Big E for a few weeks on WWE RAW. As King of the Ring, Xavier Woods could potentially find himself in new territory on the blue brand. With such a high-profile victory at Crown Jewel, will Woods use the momentum to go on a singles run?
