Carmelo Hayes is appreciated by the WWE management

During this week's episode of SmackDown, we saw on-screen one of NXT's new faces, Von Wagner, who is accompanying Kyle O'Reilly week to week in the ring on the yellow-black show. But he wasn't the only NXT superstar backstage at SmackDown, in fact, the names of Cora Jade, Dexter Lumis and Dakota Kai were also reported by PWInsider.

The former is making itself known quickly, Dexter Lumis has been a while since we have seen him alongside Indi Hartwell who debuted this week at 205 Live and Dakota Kai is continuing her feud with Raquel Gonzales. But that's not all, in fact, Carmelo Hayes, current North American Champion, and Trick Williams, performed in a dark match against the Viking Raiders and this was their first time on the main roster.

Journalist Joe Alba wrote on social media: "Speaking with some people in WWE last night, there are high hopes for the duo of Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams. The two worked on a dark match last night at Smackdown. Very favorable opinions from those I spoke to, many said they looked like 'stars.'

As I have said in the past, Carmelo Hayes has had a lot of support from the top of NXT, especially after the match with Adam Cole. I talked about it a couple of weeks ago and I stick to what I said, I think a call upstairs in the spring is very possible."

Backstage news on Carmelo Hayes

Who knows if among these names there is really someone very close to the WWE main roster, surely a Dakota Kai would be considered the path he has made within the company over the years, in fact, he has been doing it for a while dark match and many even expected it in the Draft.

We just have to wait and see what the McMahon company will do. Carmelo Hayes has made an immediate impact in WWE since his NXT debut. On this week's episode of NXT 2.0, Hayes defeated Isaiah 'Swerve' Scott to win the NXT North American Championship following Swerve's hard-fought victory over Santos Escobar in the main event.

Carmelo cashed in his contract for a title match of his choosing that he won in this year's NXT Breakout Tournament. Carmelo Hayes has been on a roll since the very beginning on NXT. He faced KUSHIDA in a very good contest for the Cruiserweight Championship on his debut and then took Adam Cole to the limit in a fun opener a few weeks later.
