Scotty 2 Hotty, the legend of the worm in the ring, who has been in the business of wrestling coaching at the Performance Center for NXT for some time, has requested the Stamford-based company to release him. Scotty was named by Raquel Gonzalez as one of the coaches who helped her become the Superstar she is now and in a new Instagram post, Scotty says that while he will always cherish the memories of the black and gold brand, he doesn't want to.

just take a paycheck and feel it's best to leave WWE.

Backstage news on Scotty 2 Hotty

Scotty 2 Hotty A.K.A. Scott Garland asked for his WWE release earlier today. The three-time champion worked as a trainer at the Performance Center but has now decided to step away from the role.

“I have asked for my release from World Wrestling Entertainment. 30 years ago I entered a WWE ring for the first time. I have lived my dream 100 times. Some of my most special memories will always be from the last five years of working with NXT.

The black and gold brand was something special and I am proud to have been a part of it. I always promised myself that I would never be a part of anything just for the paycheck and that's just where I got to. I told myself I would leave if I got to that point, so that's what I chose to do.

Training and producing NXT stars will always be a highlight of my life. I love you all more than you will ever know." During his wrestling career, Scotty became WWE Light Heavyweight Champion and WWE Tag Team Champion with Brian Christopher and Rikishi and although we will all remember him as a madman who was a worm in the ring, many people, like Raquel Gonzalez, or Rhea Ripley who dedicated a post to him on Instagram, but in general the guys at NXT will also remember him as one of the most important people in their careers.

Whatever his path is now, we wish him the best, also because it is nice to see people who recognize their own value, that of others and especially when it is time to stop to make room for someone else with extreme humility as he did, who he donated a lot and asked for nothing in return.

WWE United States Champion Damian Priest responded by saying that he cannot thank Scotty 2 Hotty enough for everything he has done. WWE 24/7 champion Dana Brooke thanked Scotty 2 Hotty for his incredible insights. Corey Graves and Ricochet also thanked the popular backstage figure.
