As widely publicized on the eve, Edge made his comeback in the Monday Night Raw episode that aired this week. His return coincided with that of The Miz, as 'The A-Lister' had also been away from television for some time.
Edge has just returned from an extraordinary trilogy with Seth Rollins and there is great anticipation to know the details of his next feud. Over the course of his long and glorious career, the Canadian wrestler has won an impressive 31 titles.
Notably, he is an eleven-time world champion and a fourteen-time duo champion. He also won the 2001 edition of the 'King of the Ring' tournament, the Money in the Bank (in 2005) and the Royal Rumble (in 2010 and 2021).
In 2012, a year after his first retirement, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by his friend and colleague Christian. During the latest edition of 'Legion of RAW' on Sportskeeda, former WWE and WCW writer Vince Russo analyzed the recent Edge promo.
From his point of view, the 'Rated-R Superstar' microphone prowess would be slightly overrated.
Vince Russo comments on Edge
“When it comes to mic prowess, Edge isn't even in the Top 20 on my list. I could easily rattle off 20 names before his” - Vince Russo confided.
“Warning, I don't want to belittle Edge's talent. Of course, he is capable of making great promos, especially when he has the right material in his hands. However, several superstars above him in this ranking come to mind.
I'm talking about Jake Roberts, Jesse Ventura, Billy Graham, Lou Albano and many others. I would definitely put Edge in the top 50 of any era, but not in the Top 20” - he added. Recently, Jim Ross praised Edge's choice to stay in WWE: “The Stamford-based company is a real home for him.
He feels comfortable there. His relationship with Vince McMahon is excellent, which is really important in that company." This week on RAW, The Miz returned to WWE when he interrupted Edge's own comeback celebrations.
Both men had quite an interesting back and forth regarding their history in the company. As a part of the promo, The Rated-R Superstar told The Miz: "You have people on other shows saying your name just to get a cheap reaction!" said Edge.
Several WWE Superstars were referenced in what was seen as an incredible promo from CM Punk, including Triple H and John Cena.
