Vince Russo pays tribute to John Cena

For more than a decade, Randy Orton and John Cena have held the WWE name high around the world. While the Viper continues to be one of the most active superstars on the roster, the leader of the 'Cenation' has progressively moved away from the ring in recent years.

Advancing age and growing commitments in Hollywood have prompted the 16-time world champion to make room for the younger ones. John's last televised match was in SummerSlam 2021, where he was defeated by Universal champion Roman Reigns at the end of a breathtaking battle.

In the last juncture of the show, we witnessed the sensational return of Brock Lesnar, who raged on poor Cena, also giving him his devastating F-5. During the last edition of 'The Bro Show', Vince Russo - a former WWE and WCW writer - was asked to choose his favorite between John Cena and Randy Orton.

Vince Russo praises John Cena

Randy Orton and John Cena are two of the greatest personalities to ever step into a WWE ring. Cena is a sixteen-time world champion while Orton has held a total of fourteen world titles in WWE.

So are these two wrestling legends real-life friends? The answer is yes. Their friendship is not hidden from their fanbase. John Cena and Randy Orton have been together since their time at Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW). "They are two great professionals, there is no doubt about it" - began Vince Russo.

“They are two amazing athletes who have written the history of this business. If I had to pick one, I'd opt for John Cena. It is no coincidence that John has also managed to breakthrough in the world of cinema. John is a well-rounded performer.

I don't know how Randy Orton would have fared outside of wrestling. As for John Cena, we knew right away that he would go beyond this discipline and that's why I prefer him” - Vince Russo analyzed. Orton, for his part, is enjoying considerable success paired with his friend Matt Riddle.

“I think it is still too early to break their alliance. Let's be honest: their partnership is performing excellently, even beyond expectations. WWE is selling a lot of products thanks to Randy and Matt. I hope the executives are smart enough to understand that the situation should not be turned upside down, at least for the moment. In the future, it might be a good idea, but now it wouldn't make any sense” - Russo commented.
