Scotty 2 Hotty reveals his favorite pupils

Scotty 2 Hotty, legend of the worm in the ring, who had been in the business of wrestling coaching at the Performance Center for NXT for some time, requested the Stamford company to be released in November 2021 and was satisfied.

This was his statement about it: “I have asked for my release from World Wrestling Entertainment. 30 years ago I entered a WWE ring for the first time. I have lived my dream 100 times. Some of my most special memories will always be from the last five years of working with NXT.

The black and gold brand was something special and I am proud to have been a part of it. I always promised myself that I would never be a part of anything just for the paycheck and that's just where I got to. I told myself I would leave if I got to that point, so that's what I chose to do.

Training and producing NXT stars will always be a highlight of my life. I love you all more than you will ever know."

Talking to Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Scott Garland aka Scotty 2 Hotty, wanted to reveal the names of two athletes who were his favorite to coach during his time as a coach at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

"Rhea Ripley and Raquel Gonzalez. These are the 2 I feel I've helped the most. Speaking of a reward, Rhea will say I'm like a father figure to her. Can you want more of that? She was 20 when she arrived, and I've seen both her and Raquel grow over the years" Then he went on to add, "My last show I produced for WWE was Wrestlemania on-sale.

The last segment was Rhea and Raquel in the stadium together, it can't get any better than that." Raquel Gonzalez herself had named him as one of the coaches who helped her become the Superstar she is now and in an Instagram post of her where she wanted to celebrate her time with the coach.

Following news of Scotty 2 Hotty requesting his release from WWE, several well-known wrestlers from across the industry responded with heartfelt tweets and other messages on social media. From the WWE side of things, many superstars wrote to express their thanks for all that Scotty 2 Hotty did for them.

Scotty 2 Hotty's last in-ring match took place at the Wrestling Revolver's The Debut event in June of 2016, where he faced Jake Manning in a winning effort. His last match for WWE came in 2014 when he and the late Brian Christopher (aka Grand Master S*xay) took on The Ascension at NXT: ArRIVAL, challenging the latter for the NXT Tag Team Championships. The iconic duo lost.
