During the annual PPV of the Royal Rumble, in recent years the WWE has also wanted to include the 30 Women's Royal Rumble, a contest entirely dedicated to the women of the McMahon-owned company, with the winner who, just like the male version of the match, goes to challenge a champion of her choice of both rosters, if not even that of NXT (as done by Charlotte last time), for a match valid for the title at Wrestlemania.

If the men's Royal Rumble match is now historic and has been going on since 1988, the women's one is a fairly recent novelty of the Stamford-based federation, out of the aftermath of the Women's Revolution in recent years.

This year, however, there will be an even bigger news with WWE appearing to have opened the famous "Forbidden Door" against one of its rival US companies, Impact Wrestling, with roster roster champion Mickie James, who will in fact take part in the match to 30 women.

Update on 2022 Royal Rumble

On January 10, 2022, it was reported that "WWE will try for an 'unexpected' forbidden door entrant for the Men's Royal Rumble." The report came from WrestleVotes, who regularly post behind-the-scenes tidbits via Twitter.

It comes after WWE announced that current IMPACT Knockouts Champion Mickie James would compete in the 30-Woman Royal Rumble match. If at the moment the WWE has already wanted to "spoil" several names of its former Superstars who will take part in the event, such as Mickie James, Lita, Kelly Kelly and numerous other girls, at the moment the well-known site PW Insider also reports two other names of athletes who will most likely show up in the ring on January 29th for WWE.

We're talking about former MNM manager Melina and Naomi's former tag team partner Cameron. Apparently, having fired numerous athletes on the main roster and not wanting to bring too many new NXT girls into the Rumble, WWE would be attracting numerous former athletes, as well as the two mentioned above.

Apparently, in the last few hours the name of Lacey Evans would also have emerged as a possible re-entry on the main roster, after the former marine gave birth to her second child, with the athlete who was vying for the title of Raw Women's.

Champion shortly before his absence and therefore could surprise his return in the Rumble of 2022. The same goes for Bayley, who is not known at the moment if she has finished dealing with her injury and therefore she could also land in the company's ring in the 30-women match at the beginning of the year.
