Matt Hardy comments on Jeff Hardy's release

Jeff Hardy was released from WWE in December last year. The firing came after Cameron's veteran walked away from the ring during a federation-hosted live event in Texas. Vince McMahon asked the 'Charismatic Enigma' to go to rehab again to defeat his demons, but the latter declined the offer.

The company decided to release him to general amazement after Matt Hardy had already left WWE to join All Elite Wrestling. Jeff was a three-time world champion, as well as having held the Intercontinental Championship five times, once the US title, once the Raw Tag Team Championship and once the SmackDown Tag Team Championship.

This made him the ninth wrestler in WWE history to have completed the Grand Slam and one of only five to have done so in both formats. In the latest edition of 'Mattitude Monday', Matt Hardy gave some additional details about his brother's farewell to WWE.

“There has been a lot of fake news, it's not true that Jeff Hardy was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He always stayed clean during his last WWE stint” - Matt Hardy clarified.

“He became the author of strange behavior during a live event in Texas. It is not known why he left the ring and mixed in with the crowd. Jeff has always been a quirky and original guy, we don't find out today. That strange behavior led many people to think that he was not lucid and the WWE sent him home.

I don't think he did it intentionally, he didn't want to be fired. I think he did it because that's his nature. Jeff is the most unpredictable person I've ever met” - he said. During his tenure in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, Jeff won both the TNA World Heavyweight Championship and the TNA World Tag Team Championship.

During a live stream on his Househardy Twitch channel, AEW wrestler Matt Hardy was asked about Jeff's condition. He revealed that the latter is okay, but it's not his story to tell. “I did speak to Jeff a little bit today, and he’s okay, he’s good," said Matt.

"And I think he’ll be fine, but once again, this isn’t my business, and if he wants to go into it in more detail, then he’ll do it himself. But Jeff is okay. He is at home and he’s okay. It’s not my business, it’s not my story to tell or explain, and besides that, I wouldn’t be able to do it justice anyway because it’s not from my perspective, so, I love my brother and I just want my brother to be okay and healthy. That’s pretty much it”.
