Paul Heyman's betrayal of Brock Lesnar was one of the most sensational events of the Royal Rumble. While the Beast was defending his title from the onslaught of Bobby Lashley, Heyman played Roman Reigns' game by starting a new partnership with the 'Tribal Chief'
Lesnar was defeated by 'The All Mighty' against all odds but redeemed himself by winning the Royal Rumble match at the end of the evening. Apparently, numerous wrestlers and insiders did not know for sure who would win the 30-man royal brawl until the day of the event itself.
There were many who thought that the winner would be between Riddle and Shane McMahon, but the WWE executives have been adept at keeping their plans secret. In a long interview with Sportskeeda, the legendary Jerry 'The King' Lawler took stock of the situation in view of WrestleMania 38.
What's next for Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar?
“During the Royal Rumble, we witnessed Paul Heyman's ultimate betrayal of Brock Lesnar. The Beast will reduce him to a pulp as soon as he gets the chance! Paul Heyman will look like a puzzle.
I don't envy him at all” - said Lawler. “I'm really worried about him. He has put himself in danger many times in the past, but this betrayal risks costing him dearly. Although at times I did not agree with his actions, I feel anxious for him now.
From my point of view, Heyman made a very serious mistake by violating the relationship of trust that he had with Lesnar. I don't know if Paul is aware of the brutality that Brock is capable of unleashing. I've seen him at work in both Ohio Valley Wrestling and mixed martial arts, so I'm not talking nonsense.
'The Beast Incarnate' will take revenge very soon" - he added. The 38th edition of WrestleMania will be staged at Arlington's AT&T Stadium and will feature world-class challenges. “The plans for Mania are always the same: WWE wants to have Reigns vs.
Lesnar in one of the two main events” - revealed Dave Meltzer. Following his massive betrayal, Paul Heyman has now broken his silence. He shared a picture of himself introducing Brock Lesnar at the show ahead of his WWE Championship match.
The caption interestingly reads - "One ... Last ... Time". It could possible be hinting that his alliance with the Beast Incarnate is officially over for good. Even more surprising was what followed as Reigns asked Paul Heyman to hand him the WWE title.
Heyman obliged, and The Tribal Chief went on to hit Lesnar with it. Lashley took advantage of the situation and pinned him to become the new WWE Champion at the Royal Rumble.
