Rob Van Dam was ready to return to WWE

Rob Van Dam has earned a whopping 21 overall titles across ECW, WWE and TNA, as well as being a three-time world champion. The 51-year-old from Battle Creek is also known as 'The Franchise of ECW', of which he was the point man from the late 1990s until the company's bankruptcy.

In 2002, he was ranked # 1 on Pro Wrestling Illustrated's annual Top 500 Performers list. He also won the Money in the Bank in 2006 and was the only superstar ever to simultaneously hold the WWE Championship and the ECW World Heavyweight Championship.

In 2021, he was inducted with full merit into the WWE Hall of Fame. In a recent interview with Sportskeeda, RVD admitted that he would have liked to return to the ring at the Royal Rumble.

Rob Van Dam was ready to return

"I let WWE know that I was available to return if they needed someone for the Royal Rumble," Rob Van Dam revealed.

“I had even prepared a new ring gear and felt in great shape. WWE didn't call me, but it could happen anytime in the next few months. I have no plans at this stage of my career, I would consider any offer” - he added.

RVD then commented on the releases made by WWE over the past two years: “For various reasons, I have never felt untouchable when I was in the company. People are stunned when an athlete is released and now it's happening with tremendous frequency.

Even when I was champion, I never thought I had the guarantee. Everything can suddenly change in this business" The former WWE Champion has never had contact with All Elite Wrestling: “There have never been negotiations with AEW.

People do not understand that it is a business and that the economic component has its relevance. I'm not in my prime anymore, now I have a harder time earning than when I was WWE or ECW champion. It depends on the offers I get”.

Rob Van Dam said that Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar was a match that fans still wanted to see irrespective of their equation with the audience. "Well, I think that the Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar (storyline) has everything about it that just sounds big, extravagant, everything, you know, 'boom, in your face.'

That's a match, I think, whether people like Roman or they are tired of seeing Roman, and even the same thing with Brock,'' revealed RVD. ''Some people, fans might think, you know, that they get tired of him, you know, (Brock) getting all the good shots, best money, best job, whatever. I think regardless, people want to see those two guys fight."
