During an interview with Sportskeeda, Women's Impact Wrestling Champion Mickie James talked about her appearance at the WWE Royal Rumble match, revealing what it meant to her and how she felt about her performance in the ring.
On fan reaction to the Royal Rumble, Mickie James said: "When I came out, the fan reaction was like it had multiple levels. When I went out, people obviously reacted to my theme song 'Hardcore Country' Then, when they saw the belt, they reacted to the belt and then continued to marvel in moments for everything else.
When I lifted the belt at the end, several didn't believe it, they thought, 'This is really happening, I don't believe it.' There were a lot of people saying to me, 'They'll never let that stuff happen. They will never let her use Hardcore County and they will never let her go out with the belt.'
It was really great to do this for me instead. My Royal Rumble match adventure began with Michelle McCool, who was my last major rival before I left in 2010 with her, Layla and Vickie Guerrero. Many people thought: 'Oh, she'll be thrown out right away' and instead she didn't.
Then I was able to take out Michelle McCool, my biggest rival. They were amazed that I had moved on. I was glad I took out Michelle McCool. The person who then eliminated me was almost okay with me. She was someone I loved and admired so much.
She had helped me a lot with wrestling. Lita, from day one she's been great with me. She had her last match with me since she retired from the Survivor Series. I could have won, should have and wanted to win the Royal Rumble but everyone wants it.
However, I could not have asked for a better end to this experience”.
Mickie James on her WWE return
On a possible titled defense of her of her WWE Impact Wrestling belt: “Well, I don't know. I mean, a match between champions would be incredible.
I don't think that's something that will happen this year, however, we have already given so much with the Royal Rumble, but in the future there could be this possibility to do maybe in some PPV. With the right story and the right opponent, anything is possible.
It would be a match that fans would pay a lot of money to see." Mickie James also feels that Lita would be a great person to induct her into the WWE Hall of Fame due to everything that the two women have been through together throughout their respective careers.
The IMPACT star offered high praise for the returning WWE Superstar, touching on their time together in the same company and the kindness Lita had always shown her.
