Jim Ross comments on "Stone Cold' Steve Austin's possible return to the ring

After rumors of a possible return to a wrestling ring by Stone Cold Steve Austin, Jim Ross also spoke about this possibility. WWE is attempting to persuade him to return for a match at Wrestlemania 38 on April 2 or 3. The federation's plan's to get "The Texas Rattlesnake" to fight Kevin Owens.

Jim Ross: "I don't know if Steve Austin could have changed his mind"

Former WWE and now AEW commentator Jim Ross talked about Steve Austin's return during a Q&A session on AdFreeShows.com: “ Well, you know, Steve still has a huge passion for the business but he has more than 50 years now.

I don't think he wants to resume his wrestling career even for one night. I don't know if the success AEW is having with another legend bigger than him like Sting could influence him and make him change his mind." Jim Ross worked extensively behind the scenes, alongside Kevin Nash, and was able to persuade Vince Mcmahon to sign Steve Austin in 1995.

Since then he and Austin have been close friends. He retired from the ring after a loss to The Rock at WrestleMania 19 and unlike many other wrestlers, Austin has remained faithful to his retirement for over twenty years. The last time he appeared on TV with WWE was in the March 16, 2020 edition of Raw, dubbed 3:16 Day, where he trimmed Stone Cold Stunners to Byron Saxton, Montez Ford and even Angelo Dawkins.

On Tony Khan's federation, Jim Ross revealed: "AEW is a great place to work. My contract will expire soon but I'm not going anywhere. I'm 70 years old though and at some point in my life, I'll have to be realistic. even though I've never been. I love what I do and still enjoy it. As long as you are happy and well it can only be ok."
