In December, Fightful informed us of Kevin Owens' renewal with the McMahon-owned company, with the wrestler saying in an interview with Led Anti-Pods: "I will still be with WWE for several years. The decision was easy enough because it was the best thing for my family, really.
When you get to this point, it's always an easy decision to make. WWE has been my home for seven years, so I feel a sense of belonging. Basically, I've spent most of my career here. When I look at all the wrestling companies I've fought for in WWE, that's where I've been the most time.
There is where I need to be for the next few years. I felt that way and so I made this decision."
Backstage News on Kevin Owens
As part of the 2021 WWE Draft, Kevin Owens was drafted back over to Monday Night RAW, where it appears that he could be about to undergo a character reset.
In the latest edition of Ryan Satin's "Out of Character" podcast, the Prize Fighter explained that they had renewed their contract with WWE a few weeks before the various reports on the sites came out. Then he also added: “WWE didn't really let me think much, they made it clear they wanted me to stay.
Vince McMahon, I dealt with Vince directly, and he made it clear that he wanted me to stay. We made a deal at that time. I firmly believe that my career will go as it should go and I will do my best. I am there for another couple of years and I will do my best to have opportunities and do my job well and reap the rewards.
As I said earlier, there are ups and downs with this thing; in WWE, in wrestling, in industry. I feel like I am recovering great right now and enjoying what I do. I've been really having a lot of fun lately. Let's hope it continues to go like this.
If I eventually stop feeling this way and feel like I'm on the decline, then it's up to me to find a way back. I've always followed that perspective. I'm having fun these days." Recall that currently KO is paired with Seth Rollins with the two who are making their climb towards the tag team titles, and for him, there is also talk of a possible match at Wrestlemania 38 against Stone Cold Steve Austin.
On May 18th, 2015, Kevin Owens made his surprise debut on the main roster, where he could dominate the brand even though he was the NXT Champion. At the time, Owens was seen as The Prizefighter and only cared about adding gold to his collection.
