WWE changes TV plans for WrestleMania 38

In the last few days we had reported how in the interview released by the WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon, on the Pat McAfee Show on Youtube, Vince had offered an official match for WrestleMania 38 to his Friday Night Smackdown reporter, with McAfee thus returning to fight on a very important ring and stage, after the brief juncture passed at NXT, where McAfee had been in a feud with Adam Cole, before taking his place at the Smackdown commentary table, alongside the historian Michael Cole.

This match had already been in the air for some time, with voices closest to the WWE reporting the rumor that Vince McMahon was about to return to wrestling in the Wrestlemania rings. But the Chairman apparently changed his mind and decided to take a step back on the issue and then preferred to put another person in the Showcase of the Immortals rings.

Apparently, we didn't have to wait long to find out who will be facing Pat McAfee in Wrestlemania 38, as already in last week's Friday Night Smackdown episode, WWE has formalized the show's reporter match with a segment gone.

aired just a few days ago, with Austin Theory being his chosen opponent for Wrestlemania.

The latest news on WrestleMania 38

A match featuring Austin Theory was pulled from the WWE Main Event broadcast this week. This comes after Theory was slotted into a WrestleMania 38 match with Pat McAfee on this week's SmackDown.

Theory took on Apollo Crews in WWE Main Event tapings for this week. According to WrestleTalk, the bout was pulled from the broadcast alongside the match between Veer and Storm Grayson. Apparently, according to what was stated by the well-known site Ringside News, WWE would have changed the card of the last episode of the Main Event, the weekly show that the company recorded before broadcasting live Monday Night Raw, eliminating one of the matches recorded in the Monday evening, which would then have had to go on stage on a deferred basis as always.

The match in question was Austin Theory vs Apollo Crews, with the contention having disappeared from the show to instead make room for a recap with a replay of Raw and Smackdown from the week before. Apparently, when asked by Ringside reporters about it, some WWE internal sources have stated that the management had to eliminate this match due to the plans that will air at Wrestlemania starring Austin Theory.

At the moment we do not know what should go on stage in the Main Event rings, but apparently, there should be something to look forward to in the future of the former NXT athlete, who once his match against Pat McAfee was formalized instead could no longer go on stage for some blatant conflict.
