Everything is ready for the main event, Sami Zayn and Ricochet reach the ring for the titled match, but Austin Theory shows up at the commentary table and Pat McAfee asks him what he is doing. Austin gets up to go face to face with the former football player, who tells him this is a disrespect for the Intercontinental title but, in response, he takes a slap in the face.
Pat is not there this time and jumps on to the future opponent, beating him well, until the security intervenes and Vince McMahon's protégé goes back backstage. I've seen people compare McAfee's presence at Wrestlemania to stars like Logan Paul or Johnny Knoxville, but I still think the situation is very different.
McAfee can do it all. Now, however, he can return to the ring, where the protagonists of the main event have been waiting for half an hour. Ricochet defended his Intercontinental Championship against Sami Zayn on WWE SmackDown.
The former won the title from Zayn last week in one of the best moments of the night. The Conspiracy Theorist looked to ground the high-flyer early with some big right hands. He stomped away at the champion and did not let him take control for some time.
Ricochet defended his Intercontinental Championship
MAIN EVENT INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Ricochet vs Sami Zayn. Good match. In the final Zayn goes for the Helluva Kick, but ... SUDDEN RECOIL! Ricochet climbs onto the stake and finishes practice with the 630th Splash, keeping his belt and proving he can win without anyone's help.
- Before the program goes offline, we witnessed a parking lot fight between Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey, ending with an impressive Champion Fish Hook on the challenger on the hood of a car. WWE did well to keep any interference out of the match.
The champion deserved a clean victory to retain his title on SmackDown. Hopefully, WWE will have a good challenger in mind for Ricochet at WrestleMania 38. While backflips are common, the King did this with next to no spring.
Sitting with his legs crossed, there was no way he could have been able to pull it off. However, he proved to us once again that he is King Ricochet for a reason. Most stunt experts can admit without a doubt that such a move is not common and takes years of training.
Ever since WWE signed him, Ricochet has been stunning the audience with his stellar performances. The Superstar is known for his gravity-defying moves.
