Jerry Lawler comments on Jim Ross leaving WWE

Jim Ross will leave WWE at the end of his contract on March 27th. The WWE Hall of Famer also defended The Undertaker's choice to participate in some events outside the company of Vince McMahon. On April 8, 2018, at WrestleMania 34, Ross called the fifth annual André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the WrestleMania 34 pre-show, alongside Jerry Lawler and Byron Saxton.

Ross's most recent WWE televised appearance was part of the pre-show panel for the Greatest Royal Rumble on April 27, 2018. During the latest edition of his Dinner with the King podcast, Jerry 'The King' Lawler commented on this shocking news: “Well, I would say I’m sad, but I spoke with JR before the announcement.

I spoke with JR the day before yesterday at length, and he told me what on behind the scenes and who he spoke with on the telephone. He actually told me about the conversation that he had with Vince. The cool thing — the reason it’s not sad — is because as far as JR is concerned, he’s going to be going onto bigger and better things."

Lawler has held more recognized championships than any professional wrestler in history, though he has never won any championships in WWE having wrestled sporadically whilst primarily providing color commentary, since joining the company. In 2007, Lawler was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
