Mustafa Ali has given a long interview to Uproxx, where he has ranged from numerous topics related to his WWE career. Prior to joining WWE, he wrestled on the American independent circuit from 2003 to 2016. On his dream opponent: “I would love to wrestle a guy by the name of Rey Fenix, he’s a phenomenal performer.
I got to wrestle him one time on the independent scene, but I believe we both have grown as performers, and if we were to cross paths again it would be something amazing. I’m a fan of all sorts, and I’ve been very fortunate to wrestle most of the guys that I always wanted to.
Jonathan Gresham is another outstanding technical-based wrestler, and I got to tie up with him one time as well, and it’s the same story where I feel like we’ve both grown as performers, and we’d absolutely kill it if we had another opportunity."
Ali was planned to compete in the Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship at the Elimination Chamber event, which would have been his first world title match; however, he was pulled out due to a legitimate injury, and replaced by Kofi Kingston.
Ali returned to competition at a WWE live event on March 2, 2019. Ali was the last moment addition to the WWE Championship match at Fastlanebetween Bryan and Kevin Owens where Bryan retained after pinning Ali.
