Dolph Ziggler's future in WWE has been the subject of numerous rumors in recent weeks. He has held the World Heavyweight Championship twice, the Intercontinental Championship six times, the United States Championship twice, and the Raw Tag Team Championship once.
Ziggler was off television until his appearance at the Royal Rumble match at the titular event as participant number 28, eliminating McIntyre and lasting until the final three, before being eliminated by Braun Strowman.
He would then disappear again from WWE television without notice due to a stand-up comedy tour that started right following the Royal Rumble. In a recent interview with Inside the Ropes, Dolph discussed his WWE contract: “Technically, I am.
Yes. It’s weird because the last few years I’ve had a somewhat of a handshake agreement, kind of behind-closed-doors deal with WWE. So, I was ready — in this business, you don’t think anything’s happening until it actually happens.
So, I’ve been able to do a lot of things on my own, not at WWE, just because of the relationship that we’ve had for the last 14 years. So, I have a bit of a handshake agreement right now, and we’ll know some more details in the coming months”.
