Drew McIntyre made his WWE main roster debut in 2009 but failed to fulfill his potential and was released in 2014. After spending two years in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, the Scottish superstar returned to Stamford in 2017.
During his career, the 36-year-old from Ayr has held the WWE Championship twice, once the NXT Championship, once the Intercontinental title and twice the Raw Tag Team Championship, making him the 31st wrestler to complete the Triple Crown.
He also won the 2020 Royal Rumble match, eliminating Roman Reigns last. In a recent interview with 'Newsday', McIntyre sent a message to all those performers who - over the years - have accused WWE of not granting the necessary creative freedom.
Vince McMahon recently asked the former WWE personality Vince Russo to watch RAW and provide his thoughts on the red brand.
Drew McIntyre on Vince McMahon
"I would never do something that I am not convinced of unless it is imposed on me by Vince McMahon himself" - began Drew McIntyre.
“In recent years, several superstars have preferred to complain in the newspapers or in the locker room rather than directly confronting Vince McMahon or the writers. Many guys are afraid to turn to Vince McMahon, but in the end, he is the head of the company we work for.
There are no alternatives. If you have an important question or concern about your career, you need to go to Vince. Although the last word is up to him, he has always listened to his athletes and has never a priori rejected ideas that could improve the show" - added Drew.
The former WWE Champion is having the best moment of his entire career: “I really enjoy wrestling at this stage of my life. I have to admit that wasn't always the case. In the past, I was much less ambitious and passionate.
When I was first released by WWE, I wasn't doing my best. I had to rediscover the love for this business before returning in 2017." Drew McIntyre's to be one of the protagonists of WrestleMania Backlash. The wrestling veteran was recently a guest on the latest edition of The Hannibal TV.
Russo revealed that he recently had a conversation with Vince McMahon himself about RAW and revealed that the Chairman asked him to watch the show and report on what he thought of it. "Couple of months ago... and I told him, I was offering my help as a consultant.
I didn't wanna be hired, I am never going to work in that environment again. But, I was like, 'Bro, your show freaking sucks, like seriously, are you watching?' It was that conversation all over again."
