Jim Cornette reflects on Cody Rhodes

Roman Reigns holds both the WWE Championship and the Universal title after defeating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38. In the biggest event of the year, the 'Tribal Chief' reiterated that he is the undisputed leader of the company.

The former Shield member did not defend his belts at WrestleMania Backlash, having been involved in a feud with RK-Bro and Drew McIntyre. One of the most surprising events of 2022 was undoubtedly the return of Cody Rhodes to WWE.

After six years of absence, the former AEW star appeared at the 'Showcase of the Immortals' to general amazement. The 36-year-old from Marietta took away the satisfaction of beating Seth Rollins at both WrestleMania and WrestleMania Backlash, proving to be one of the best talents around.

Cody has expressed a desire to become a world champion in the near future. In the latest edition of the 'Drive Thru' podcast, Jim Cornette claimed that 'The American Nightmare' is the only one capable of dethroning Roman Reigns.

"Cody Rhodes seems, to me, the only performer capable of dethroning Roman Reigns right now" - began Jim Cornette. "Cody could defeat Reigns by the end of this year, possibly at SummerSlam.

Their feud could go on in the following months and culminate in the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania in 2023. It doesn't seem like a bad idea to me,” he added. Jim also talked about Ronda Rousey: “It won't be easy for WWE to manage Ronda in the coming months.

After her victory against Charlotte Flair, everyone knows that Rousey is a world-class superstar. I don't see an opponent on her roster who can legitimately worry her at this stage. The next three months will be decisive in understanding her fate.

Vince McMahon’s company may take some time to wait for Charlotte’s return, but she’s not exactly around the corner. I don't think Ronda will play many matches in the weeks to come”. Fans have enjoyed the WWE show in the last two pay-per-views.

A recent report by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter indicated that WWE intends to pit Drew McIntyre against Roman Reigns at the Clash at the Castle show in Wales. ''This changes by the hour but right now the plan is not for McIntyre to challenge, since the working idea is Reigns vs.

McIntyre on 9/3 in Cardiff," said the report. Reigns has faced McIntyre a few times in singles matches recently, but they've all been on house shows, which could indicate that a title match between the two could be on the cards.
