Angelo Dawkins opens up on Triple H

On March 25, 2022, Triple H announced his retirement from professional wrestling due to his state of health. In September 2021, The Game underwent delicate heart surgery following a cardiac event. The long rehabilitation made him reflect and led him to abandon the desire to return to fighting.

HHH had gradually moved away from the ring in recent years, thanks to his advancing age and the willingness to devote himself full time to his managerial role. His contribution was fundamental for the birth and rise of NXT, to the point of making the 'Black and Gold' brand a very valid alternative to the Raw and SmackDown shows.

Hunter made his last appearance at WrestleMania 38, where he thanked fans and left his boots in the center of the ring. In a long interview with NBC Sports, Angelo Dawkins had nice words for the 'Cerebral Assassin'

Angelo Dawkins praises Triple H

“It was heartbreaking to hear the news of Triple H's retirement” - began Angelo Dawkins. “When I witnessed the boot scene at WrestleMania 38, I couldn't hold back the tears.

It was a truly poignant moment. The Game wasn't just a great performer if you know what I mean. He changed this business both in and out of the ring. I wish him the best” - Angelo commented. HHH was also praised by Rhea Ripley: “I love Triple H and it was great to see him back in Mania.

When she made his entrance, I felt a very strong emotion. The last few months have not been easy for him, he has been through a lot and knowing that he won't fight anymore saddens me a lot. It's thanks to him that I joined WWE.

Hunter is the reason I started watching wrestling, he is the one who directed me toward this business. Without his help and support, I would never have become the Rhea Ripley you know today. He believed in me and gave me the chance to fully express my talent”.

Speaking on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast, RVD recalled how he viewed Vince McMahon’s son-in-law two decades ago. “I wasn’t happy about the situation at the time,” RVD said. “Competitive state of mind, you don’t look at it when you’re across the ring from him and you’re both competing for the love of the crowd, you don’t look at it like, ‘Hey, this guy is [an executive].’ … You look at it more like, ‘It’s not fair. Just because he’s with the boss’ daughter.’”
