Smackdown: Roman Reigns knew his next opponent

The last episode of Friday Night Smackdown aired by WWE on FOX networks, on American TV, saw the main event close with the long-awaited match between the Tribal Chief of the company, Roman Reigns and the Original Bro Matt Riddle, who went to try to snatch the world champion belts from the athlete of Samoan origin, after months of undisputed reign in WWE.

This was Roman Reigns' first titled defense since he won both belts at Wrestlemania 38 by beating Brock Lesnar to become Undisputed Champion of the Stamford-based company. Obviously, as expected, so it wasn't a surprise at all, the Samoan took both belts back home by defeating Riddle in a hard-fought match, but there was a little surprise at the end of the show.

Roman Reigns must be careful

As we also told you in our usual weekly report, Brock Lesnar returned at the end of the show trying to peacefully offer his hand to Tribal Chief Roman Reigns, who accepted it, but then, in full Lesnar style, the whole Bloodline got a good F5.

After all this, the WWE Universe, a little surprised and even disappointed by the huge confrontation between the two, sees a nice official announcement on social media: Roman Reigns will defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Title at Summerslam against The Beast and not only...

because it will be a Last Man Standing Match. If you remember well the original plan provided for the defense titled Money In The Bank against Matt Riddle, which happened last night on Friday Night SmackDown, and then move on to Summerslam against Randy Orton, but unfortunately The Viper will not be able to participate due to some problems in the back that will force him to have surgery, so WWE opted to bring Brock Lesnar back.

What to say? Will it be another disappointment? Will Seth Rollins win MITB and cash in on Summerslam to relive his historic Wrestlemania cash? We just have to wait and see. Many fans saw the encounter at the Show of Shows as the conclusion to their long-standing rivalry.

However, a match that did not go according to plan would not be a fitting end to one of the greatest rivalries in WWE history. With Reigns and Lesnar both having taken some time off to return to fitness, they have the chance to bring the curtain down on their epic story with an equally earth-shattering match. As a result, the Beast Incarnate was called upon to fill in at The Biggest Show of the Summer on July 30.
