When we think of IMPACT or TNA, even if we are not super fans of the company and we have not followed its story in detail, one of the first names that comes to mind is undoubtedly AJ Styles. The wrestler in fact is undoubtedly one of the most beloved of the company and one of the most relevant as regards the history that has been written in all these 20 years that IMPACT has celebrated at Slammiversary 2022.
The Phenomenal One fought in IMPACT's first match against the Flying Elvises, also becoming the first X Division Champion a week later, then continuing to five reigns with the belt. But he certainly didn't stop there, winning other belts as well.
AJ Styles is a wrestling veteran
During the pay-per-view Slammiversary 2022 which aired last night on FITE TV, the company celebrated 20 years of activity and so several personalities sent a recorded message to wish their good wishes and among these were Kurt Angle, Sting and of course AJ Styles.
The wrestler talked about his career in the company from the beginning and then continued with the story of the historical matches that no one will ever forget, saying that they managed to change the landscape of professional wrestling.
Then he thanked the fans for voting him as the most impactful wrestler at IMPACT (pardon the inevitable pun), saying that without the company there would be no Phenomenal (One). Of course, since it was a bit of a special appearance, considering that AJ Styles is currently under contract with WWE which rarely grants such things, he also says in the video: “I want to thank WWE for letting me do this because they understand that this is a special moment for me." But we are sure, dear AJ, that this is a special moment also for all the fans who have always loved you and who thank you for the extraordinary career you have had in the ring.
"I think my first reaction was pain. I think that had a lot to do with that match. At the end of the day, the better performer won in that case, and that was Bray Wyatt. The great thing about losing a championship, in my case is I have yet to receive a rematch clause for my WWE Championship.
It looks like I'm gonna get that with Bray Wyatt instead of John Cena. It doesn't really matter who my opponent is at WrestleMania. I would say that the fact that it's WrestleMania, it doesn't matter who it is. WrestleMania is one of the biggest events in the world, and I can't wait to be a part of it. It's my second one, so it's not like it's getting old to me, that's for sure."
