Rey Mysterio made modern WWE history, being one of the most titled and popular wrestlers of the past 20 years. In addition to being a three-time world champion, he has won the Intercontinental title twice, the United States Championship twice, the lightweight title three times, the WWE Tag Team Championship four times and the SmackDown Tag Team Championship once.

He also won the 2006 Royal Rumble match. Before joining WWE, the Mexican-born elf played in Extreme Championship Wrestling and World Championship Wrestling. Rey is experiencing a sort of second youth thanks to his son Dominik, who is trying in every way to follow in his father's footsteps.

In a long conversation on Sportskeeda, Jerry 'The King' Lawler said Mysterio should start stepping aside.

Latest update on Rey Mysterio

“I've been in contact with Rey Mysterio recently. As you may recall, he and Dominik saved me just before Veer Mahaan tore me apart.

Fans were ecstatic when Rey and his son rushed to my aid. I'm no one to say that Rey should hang up her boots, but maybe it's time for her to step away from his son. It is time for Rey to allow Dominik to gain experience on his own, without always sticking to him” - said Jerry Lawler.

Sam Adonis also commented on this topic: “I don't see a single reason why Rey should retire. In Mexico, masks are truly iconic. In particular, Mysterio's mask has a very deep history. The mask is a symbol of hope, reminding everyone that anyone can make his dream come true, regardless of his origin, size or ethnicity.

It's not just wrestling. Rey Mysterio has all the credentials to continue performing in WWE, perhaps with a reduced schedule”. Rey Mysterio was the 14th wrestler in WWE history to complete the Grand Slam. Mysterio began his career at the age of 14 but had essentially spent his entire life in and around the world of Lucha Libre.

The prodigy was trained by his uncle and the man he would earn his name and mask from, Rey Mysterio Sr. Rey Jr., as he was known at the time, may have had a size disadvantage, but he made up for it with incredible speed, innovative aerial maneuvers and plenty of guile.

Eventually, he became the underdog that everyone wanted to root for. Rey is not only admired by adults, but he's also a hero to children. His size, undying courage and the fact that he often wears superhero-inspired garb appeal to professional wrestling's youngest fans.
