Booker T discusses Vince McMahon's retirement

The wrestling world was rocked last Friday by the news of Vince McMahon’s retirement at the age of 77. Current roster members, legends, insiders and fans shared their thoughts on social media, paying tribute to a man who made sports entertainment history.

After taking control of the company in the 1980s, Vince transformed WWE into the global giant we know today. He has personally contributed to the birth of great events such as WrestleMania and SummerSlam, as well as having forged icons of the caliber of The Undertaker and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

The last period was not easy for the now-former Chairman. According to a Wall Street Journal investigation, the latter gave $3 million to a former employee with whom he had an extramarital affair. Despite this story, no one expected Vince to leave the company.

In the latest edition of the 'Hall of Fame' podcast, Booker T was unable to hide his enormous amazement.

Booker T opens up on Vince McMahon

"I didn't expect it. I thought that Vince McMahon would have continued at least until he was 80” - admitted Booker T.“ I can only thank an absolute legend like Vince McMahon.

He allowed me to take care of my family by making me a great wrestler. He has given me many opportunities and has always treated me with the utmost respect. I know there is a lot of hate out there and that many people have welcomed the news of Vince's retirement.

I'm just saying that - without him - there would never have been the WWE we know today. He created a jewel from nothing. The real question is what will happen without Vince. We are all wondering” - added the two-time WWE Hall of Famer.

According to the well-known portal 'PW Insider', McMahon made this decision 7-10 days ago: “The choice to replace Vince with Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan was sudden after it became clear that Vince was going to leave.

The announcement was made on Friday because they did not want to have negative repercussions on the stock market" Dutch Mantell speculated that Nick Khan might have been brought into the company to get Vince McMahon out specifically: "Well, I think that Nick Khan was inserted into the company, and I said this a long time ago.

I think he was inserted there to get Vince out," said Dutch Mantell. "Now, somehow, all these NDAs leaked from Titan Towers to the Wall Street Journal. Now, how did they get leaked? They had to leak from the inside, and I'm not accusing anybody; I want to make that clear. But how did they leak it out from Stamford?"
