It has now been well over two months since WWE announced that Sasha Banks and Naomi had been suspended indefinitely for leaving the company prior to an episode of Monday Night Raw. This means that it has been just as long since the company also announced that a future tournament would be aired to crown the new champions of the tag team category.
Well, that tournament has not yet taken place, nor has there been any news about it in this period. Not only that, he hasn't even been mentioned by anyone in WWE for weeks, not even internally. PW Insider and many other sites in the industry have questioned the matter and said that from the WWE and those who are very close to it "there had been no communication" about the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship or about when and how it will be reassigned.
In the end, it took Triple H to lead the creative team to find out more, after the various returns we witnessed between tonight and SummerSlam, there was also news regarding the women's world titles tag team of the main roster, with the reporter Michael Cole who gave us some very important updates in the last episode of Smackdown, revealing that as early as tonight, the WWE would have started a tournament to decree the new champions.
WWE is reorganizing
Obviously, the WWE main roster is not exactly jam-packed with female teams that can be included on a large scale in the tournament to decree the new tag team champions, with WWE having the idea of including some NXT athletes in the tournament, perhaps to move them permanently to the main roster, being the tag team titles only from Raw and Smackdown and having NXT its own.
This Monday, a new episode of Monday Night Raw aired, with WWE confirming who will be all the teams that will try to reach the belts abandoned overnight by Sasha Banks and Naomi, with the company revealing that the following teams will take part in the tournament: Tamina and Dana Brooke, IYO SKY and Dakota Kai, Alexa Bliss and Asuka, Nikki ASH and Doudrop, Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah, Xia Li and Shotzi, Nikkita Lyons and Zoey Stark, Natalya and Sonya Deville.
As we can see from the graphics, the two that seem to have nothing to do with the main roster plans would be Stark and Lyons, with the team that will be temporarily aggregated to the rest of the main roster, at least for this tournament.
