John Cena is one of the most popular WWE superstars of the world, but he has worked for a long time as a baby face. The baby face gimmick has carried on and on and many WWE fans wanted Cena to turn heel. WWE in the past didn’t allow him to turn heel, but it appears that he is now a heel wrestler if he continues taking the Dr.
of Thuganomics gimmick forward. John Cena interrupted Elias during his segment on WrestleMania 35. He came to the ring with his Dr. Of Thuganomics gimmick and received a huge pop from the fans. Most hardcore fans wanted him to return with this gimmick as the gimmick appeals to the more mature audience.
Cena during a backstage interview stated that he enjoyed brining the character gimmick back, so we might see him use this gimmick more often in the future. "They have no idea how much it means to me," Cena said. "For years I can say my contributions on television had helped sell tickets to this event, but this year that was not true, and it still completely sold out, and everyone is still completely on the edge of their seats.
And I've said this from the day I walked in the door, WWE does not need me or any one individual, it needs the fans. So, I'm at a very good perspective with the fact that they don't need me, they're just fine without me and I'm very grateful to be asked to be even a small part.
So, I'll break out the old school stuff to be a part. I hope it meant a lot to them because they'll have no idea how much it means to me."
