Former WWE star speaks about Chris Benoit

Chris Benoit's tragedy still remains the blackest page in the history of this business today. WWE and wrestling in general have never been the same since that damned June 24, 2007, which established a real watershed. The Canadian star's career would surely have secured him a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame, but his terrible actions have made him one of the most talked about and criticized in the wrestling world.

The episode of Raw on June 25, 2007 was dedicated to Benoit, as the details of the story had not yet emerged. Only later did the police reveal that the former heavyweight champion had killed his wife Nancy and son Daniel before taking his own life.

In the latest edition of the 'Cheap Heat Productions' podcast, former WWE star Rory McAllister gave further details on what happened behind the scenes in the hours following Chris Benoit's death.

Chris Benoit was canceled from WWE

“After learning the news of Chris Benoit's death, WWE worked tirelessly to dedicate the next episode of Raw to his memory.

At that juncture, it was not yet clear how things had gone. However, rumors began to circulate that there was something strange about the place of the tragedy,” said McAllister. “It was a very hard time for everyone.

I remember looking at Robbie and saying to him, 'What if we're doing all this for a man who killed his wife and his son?' We tried in every way to distract ourselves, but it was impossible to get rid of that thought” - he added.

Recently, Daniel Puder also recalled the tragedy of Benoit: “Although many years have passed, that story still chills the blood today. I don't know all the details of the story well, but I can assure you that all there was to know has not been told.

Police found someone used Chris's cell phone a couple of hours after his death. Numerous mysteries of that tragedy have remained unsolved." Chris Benoit's name might be erased from WWE history, but Kurt Angle isn't willing to forget about the former world champion's contributions to the business.

"Oh, by the way. I did want to say this. I know that people don't really care about me talking about Chris Benoit, but I'm not doing it for Chris Benoit. If I erase Chris Benoit, I'm going to erase most of my career," said Kurt Angle.

"And I'm not going to erase myself. So, a lot of people might not agree with me having this show today talking about Chris and everything."
