Important update on Cody Rhodes

Fightful reporter Sean Sapp reported that Warner Bros. Discovery executives privately contacted Cody Rhodes before he left in an attempt to keep him in AEW. Once they were informed of his decision to leave, they tried to make a last effort to convince him not to go.

“Speaking with Warner Bros Discovery sources, we are told that several efforts were made within the company to keep Cody Rhodes in AEW. Rhodes had developed a good relationship with several people at WarnerMedia at the time.

We were told that the deal between Cody Rhodes and WWE was unofficial until a few weeks before WrestleMania, even though WWE had considered it a foregone conclusion. As a result, following the merger of Warner Bros. Discovery, there were investigations within the company completely separate from AEW to assess Rhodes' interest in staying." The report also noted that Sam Linskey, Associate General Manager and Senior Vice President of Scripted Original programming for TNT, TBS and TruTv, was among the people who contacted American Nightmare.

In the end we know how it went, but there were no hard feelings between the two sides.

Cody Rhodes shocked everyone

As we all know, Cody Rhodes returned to WWE to face Seth Rollins and his return was nominated as a finalist for Best WWE Moment Of The Year at this year's ESPY Awards.

The other nominees were: The Undertaker's WWE Hall of Fame induction, Big E cashing his Money In The Bank briefcase on Bobby Lashley to win the WWE Championship, and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin hitting Vince McMahon, Austin Theory and Pat McAfee with the Stunners at WrestleMania 38.

At the annual ESPY Awards ceremony, Dusty Rhodes' son ultimately managed to win the Best WWE Moment award by overcoming all those equally important moments. Former AEW TNT Champion and current WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes has commented on which performers from AEW are likely to jump ship to WWE.

"I would only give somebody honest advice. That might be right for somebody. This was right for me. I don't know when the first...I think I know who those people will be because there are certain people who fit this 'superstar mode,' I think I know how the types might be and when they ask, I'm going to give them the best advice I possibly can.

I can say though, that the schedule here, at the least the schedule I had the first time, is not for the non-committed," said Cody.
