Seth Rollins reflects on his gimmick

Seth Rollins is one of the most prominent wrestlers on the WWE roster, having earned the respect of fans and his peers. In addition to being a five-time world champion, he has won the Intercontinental Championship twice, once the United States Championship and six times the Raw Tag Team Championship, making him the 11th athlete in history to complete the Grand Slam.

He also won the 2014 edition of the Money in the Bank and the 2019 edition of the Royal Rumble match. The former Shield member has given new life to his character thanks to the 'Visionary' gimmick, which made fans and insiders talk a lot.

Rollins wears extravagant and eccentric clothes every time he steps into the ring, never going unnoticed and showing a different side of his personality each time. Interviewed by Ariel Helwani for 'BT Sport', Seth admitted that he was not comfortable with this gimmick at first.

Seth Rollins' confession

"I must admit I was a little reluctant at first. I didn't know if he was the right character for me and how he would be welcomed by the WWE Universe. I had several doubts when this idea was presented to me "- confided Seth Rollins.

"The goal was to do something different and innovative, with some references to the past. We were inspired by legends of the caliber of Ric Flair, Rick Rudes and Gorgeous George and we modernized their style ”- added Seth.

The former WWE Champion also spoke of Vince McMahon's departure: “I couldn't believe it. I'll never forget that day, I really mean it. Becky Lynch and I were at the airport, on our way to a live event, when suddenly we received a notification on our cell phone.

A few seconds later, Becky and I looked at each other and we were both speechless. From the first day I stepped foot into WWE, I knew Vince was getting old and that he could leave any moment. However, I didn't expect it to happen so abruptly.

I love him, he has been like a second father to me for the past 10 years”. Seth Rollins has disclosed details about the time that Triple H threatened to fire him from WWE if his attitude did not improve. “Terry is very old school in the sense that he thinks a certain way works, and part of that ideology is sort of shunning what is up and coming instead of embracing it," said Rollins.

"And I was always like, ‘Hey, the business is changing. You’ve gotta go with it. If you go against it, it’s not gonna help.’ I would just challenge him in little ways every day to the point where I was insubordinate, and Hunter [Triple H] took me aside and was like, ‘Look, I don’t see anything special in you...."
