What would happen if CM Punk left AEW permanently to return, in a sensational way, to WWE? Many are wondering this, following the suspension remedied by the former Best in the World, after having an altercation with The Elite in the post PPV AEW All Out.
Two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair tried to answer this question during his To Be The Man podcast: "You know, the decision was made sooner than we know because if Steve prepared to fight a real match, in real time in LA, would be damn good.
But I mean, come on. I don't mean anything bad but CM Punk can't act like he's acting in one company and then going into the other, and behaving like that, come and expect to be in the main events. If he had been in the Wrestlemania main event, you would have had a riot in the locker room.
Think about it. He didn't leave on good terms. He's not on good terms with AEW either. I mean, it's not about his ability. I'm just talking about the fact that I can't even imagine WWE can even use Punk, putting him in front of people like AJ Styles and Randy Orton.
I mean, you might have Steve fighting one of those guys, if Steve can work, if his neck is okay, Steve is a fool who would fuck himself. He could fight Randy. You would have kids who would rebel if WWE decided to use Punk in the WrestleMania main event."

Flair also commented on who he'd rather see in a hypothetical WrestleMania match: "For Steve Austin to wear wrestling gear and go out there and fight like 'Stone Cold' would make him very proud of himself, because he's a man with a Moral.
He always stays in good shape. I mean, his body is still great. He looks good. Knowing his ego and knowing who he is, he'll want to be "Stone Cold" once again. he should defeat in about 30 seconds. 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and CM Punk? Come on.
Give me a break. You can't even mention their name in the same breath. Please. The Rock and him? I do not know. They might look at each other and be just a matter of who is doing the favor because they are not going to fight for an hour.
John Cena, I liked that idea too. But, you know, it's like we talked about it with The Rock. We'll see, I don't know who to choose." On the latest edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's SmackTalk, Dutch Mantell told Sid Pullar III that he thinks The Game will prevent the seven-time World Champion from ever returning to WWE.
"Triple H is going to stop CM Punk from ever setting foot in WWE. And they [WWE] don't need him. If this had been three months ago, they needed everything three months ago. But they kind of filled those gaps in and I don't think there's any need for CM Punk."
