Akira Tozawa changes gimmick

After seeing the "trashing" of the 24/7 title live on Monday Night Raw last Monday night, the well-known site Wrestling Observer, through the words of the ever present Dave Meltzer, wanted to affirm how WWE had wanted to withdraw with this angle officially and definitively the green and gold title of the company.

If initially the retirement of the title was only a supposition of Dave Meltzer, although supported by several sources inside the WWE, which confirmed this trend of the title, in recent days the WWE has wanted to refute any doubts.

If we enter the official website of the Stamord federation, in fact, we find the list of titles currently in use by the WWE and obviously also the 24/7 title. Unlike the other titles still used, next to the green and gold title of the McMahon federation, there is the writing "2019-2022", a sign that the title was in business in those years and then withdrawn, like all the other old ones company history titles.

After seeing the end of the green-gold title, for some there seems to have been a return to the past. We are talking about the Japanese Akira Tozawa, who was spotted in a new (or rather old) guise, during the tapings of the Main Event, a secondary program of the WWE.

Akira Tozawa returns to origins

After seeing R-Truth's terrible injury in NXT, in a match against Grayson Waller, tonight it was Akira Tozawa's time to go up against NXT's favorite heel, with the two facing each other in tapings.

pre-recorded Main Event, just before the Monday Night Raw live broadcast. What left the fans of the WWE Universe a bit stunned, was the review of Tozawa with his old clothes as a "normal" athlete and therefore no longer dressed in the black ninja suit.

To all intents and purposes, Tozawa therefore seems to have trashed his latest gimmick, born thanks to the 24/7 title, while the pandemic had broken out in WWE, with its related problems, just like in the rest of the world.

After winning the lightweight title and the 24/7 title, it seems that WWE still wants to bet on its veteran Japanese athlete, who in the last period had been relegated only and exclusively to angle comedy, along with many other athletes of the company, including JBL and Baron Corbin.

On Sony Sports Network's Extraaa Dhamaal show, Dudley said that the two men need to have a rematch without any interference: "A rematch is definitely in order. But there needs to be a stipulation. You can't have the other guys come in.

You can't have Damian and Rhea and that little traitor Dominik — you can't have them come in and interfere in this match. Whether you do it in a steel cage, maybe Hell in a Cell (...) you just never know."
