Austin Theory admits he's been in a lot of pain in recent months

Austin Theory had received a big push in late 2021 and early 2022, as well as having become Vince McMahon's protégé. Austin seemed to have all it takes to become one of the top faces of the WWE, but Vince's sensational farewell has turned the tables on the table.

Vince announced his retirement last July, thanks to the advancing age and the serious allegations of misconduct that fell on him following an investigation by the Wall Street Journal. Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan took over from him, while Triple H became the new head of the creative team.

The 14-time world champion has shown that he has a very different philosophy from that of his illustrious predecessor and has not hesitated to make some substantial changes to the product. In addition to transferring some NXT talent to the main roster, The Game brought back several stars who had been released (including Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman and Johnny Gargano).

The advent of Triple H did not seem to have helped Theory, who had failed to cash in his briefcase against Seth Rollins.

The rebirth of Austin Theory

Austin Theory amazed fans and insiders by defeating Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley at Survivor Series: WarGames to win the United States Championship.

In an interview with 'BT Sport', Austin admitted that the last few months have not been easy for him: "Failure to collect the briefcase was like hitting rock bottom for me. I didn't know what to do anymore and I thought I was burned by now.

I had to work a lot to renew my character and give myself a second chance. Winning the United States title at Survivor Series is a new beginning for me. I have to keep evolving and improving if I want to get to the top." According to the latest rumors, Theory is destined to face John Cena at WrestleMania 39.

The next edition of the 'Showcase of the Immortals' will in fact be held a stone's throw from Hollywood. The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin should also be present. Former Women’s Champion Bayley is among those who have compared the two characters on social media.

However, speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Riju Dasgupta, Theory dismissed claims that he stole his former co-worker’s gimmick: “You see stuff online where people are like, ‘It’s ripping this off, it’s ripping that off.’ To me, it’s a different way of doing it and I’m going about it a different way.

Anything that people might have seen before or think they might have seen before, they don’t want to get along with it because they’re like, ‘Well, it’s already happened.’ But I think what I do is totally different”.
