During the Friday Night Smackdown episode aired on the night of December 2, WWE wanted to stage the final of the tournament to decree the new winner of its world cup, with the dispute that saw Ricochet go to compete for the cup against Santos Escobar.
After an initial victory that seemed obvious for Braun Strowman, Ricochet had managed to snatch a ticket to the final by beating WWE's Monster Among Men by robbery, finishing tonight in the final with the ex NXT Mexican-born talent.
It was Ricochet who had the upper hand, even in this match, after a great match against Escobar that electrified the fans from home and those present in the arena. One of the most agile men in WWE, he managed to get the final pin after his 630 Splash, having already landed his opponent with a Hurricanrana from the top rope.
We recall how Ricochet beat Mustafa Ali and Braun Strowman in previous matches of the tournament, while Escobar beat Shinsuke Nakamura and Butch instead.
Braun Strowman threatens GUNTHER
After seeing the start of a real feud between Braun Strowman and Ricochet on one side and the Imperium on the other, the Monster Among Men wanted to launch his personal challenge to the Intercontinental champion of Friday Night Smackdown, with GUNTHER who was thus advised.
To the microphones of the Smackdown Lowdown, Strowman has in fact declared: "You say we're not done yet and you're absolutely right. Gunther cost me the World Cup tournament. Ricochet took the lead on him and I don't blame him at all.
Gunther, on the other hand, is absolute crap. Those two clowns who hang around him think they can stick their noses into everyone's business, as and when they want. They discovered tonight that it doesn't happen like this before my eyes.
I don't forget what happened. You have the Intercontinental title and I promise you that I will lay my hands on you, I would very much like to be the monster that snatches the title from your hands and puts it back where it belongs - around my hips.
I'm coming for you, get ready." Speaking on the Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T weighed in on the matter, praising Braun Strowman and Omos for putting up a stellar match at WWE Crown Jewel. “That’s [the comment] just gonna stir up a hornet’s nest.
And I think they went out and did a hell of a job. And they should be applauded, because I’m sure a lot of people thought that match was gonna stink up the house… and they went out there and pulled it off. So giving yourself a pat on the back? Hell yeah, man," said Booker.
