The Royal Rumble is one of the most anticipated events of the year. At this major event, fans always expect new surprises with former WWE stars, legends or wrestlers from other wrestling federations possibly making appearances during the two 30-man royal brawls.

In this period there are many fans who are hoping for a return to WWE by Erick Rowan alongside Bray Wyatt. So in a recent appearance on the 'Ten Count' podcast, the former Wyatt Family member revealed that he doesn't know if WWE wants to take him to the Royal Rumble.

Erick Rowan talks about his future

On his possible return to WWE at the Royal Rumble, Erick Rowan said: "As for a Royal Rumble appearance, I think I'd be the last to know. It's often the fans who find out about returns first.

Sometimes you hear some rumors that come true then suddenly. Maybe in the next few days I will hear more rumors of this type and then I will see that it will go just as they say". Erick Rowan made his last WWE appearance in March 2020 on Raw before the public shutdown due to the pandemic.

The two-time Smackdown Tag Team Champion was one of many released due to budget cuts due to Covid-19 but continued to wrestle on the independent circuit nonetheless. Erick Rowan also continued to make several appearances in AEW under the ringname Erick Redbeard, following the death of his former Wyatt Family partner Luke Harper, also known as Brodie Lee.

Recently, Rowan himself had spoken about the relationship with Triple H during the NXT period. Along with Rowan, Bray Wyatt was also released from WWE during the pandemic, but later returned later this past October during Extreme Rules.

At a live event of the company in Miami, Bray Wyatt had a match against former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal, but after the fight he confessed to a fan at ringside that he was injured. Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff recently expressed his desire for WWE to re-sign former Superstar Erick Rowan.

"Yeah, that ship has sailed. I’m really happy where I’m at. Not only happy where I’m at – like, I live in a beautiful place, I have a beautiful home, I’m in a part of the country that people all over the world travel to, to enjoy every year and I’m really grateful for that." Bischoff added: "But, more than that, I’m grateful for my peace of mind and I’m just at a stage in my life where I hate traveling."
