In the world of professional wrestling, having 2nd, 3rd and even 4th generations of talent isn’t something that is strange to see. In fact, many WWE wrestlers that are quite famous right now are actually 2nd or 3rd generation wrestlers.
Many people believe that 2nd and 3rd generation wrestlers actually have a higher chance at becoming extremely successful. One such example is Cody Rhodes, who is the son of the legendary wrestling promoter Dusty Rhodes. Cody Rhodes is simply continuing his father’s legacy.
Recently, Brandi Rhodes, Cody’s wife, spoke about her children on the 2 Truths and 1 Lie podcast.
Beth Phoenix and Brandi Rhodes Talk About Their Children Possibly Wrestling
On the 8th episode of the podcast, Brandi spoke to WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix.
Beth was actually a very popular superstar when she was a full-time WWE wrestler. She used to simply annihilate her opponents with relative ease. Brandi asked Beth about her children and how they felt seeing Beth in the 2022 Royal Rumble.
She teamed up with Edge that night. Beth revealed that her oldest daughter is an introvert. She stated that her oldest daughter felt anxious seeing her take bumps and also being in between thousands of people. Her youngest actually enjoyed the match as Beth describes her as a ‘firecracker’.
She was actually cheering Beth and showed signs of actually being involved in wrestling at some point. Beth stated that she will support her children if they were to ever think about wrestling again. "It's one of those things where I know there's a lot of pressure for kids that come from families with a legacy, as you know.
And I would hope that they can find fun in it and not feel like they have to do it to live up to anything," Phoenix said. "If it's what they want to do, we would support them in it." Brandi does not want her children to actually be involved in the industry, which is well-known for being extremely cutthroat.
Professional wrestling is also known for having storylines that are ethically questionable and women in the past have been utilized inappropriately for a younger audience in the past, even in the WWE. "I am terrified of [Liberty] wanting to wrestle because I see what my parents went through because this was not something that was a long time coming. It was just all of a sudden, 'Woah, wait, what? This is what she's doing?'" Brandi Rhodes recalled.
