After his sensational exit from the AEW scene, William Regal returned to the McMahon court just a year after Vince's release, when the historic WWE Chairman had decided to fire the entire Triple H team at NXT. In the last few hours, the role that would have been assigned to William Regal has also emerged online after his return to WWE at the behest of the Triple.
As reported in the last few hours by the well-known site PW Insider, Regal would have returned to being an executive in the behind the scenes of the company with the journalists of the site who reported: "PW Insider has confirmed that William Regal's official title for his new WWE role is Vice President of Global Talent Development." In practice, the fifty-four-year-old former General Manager of NXT will return to having a fundamental role for the new WWE levers, continuing his work as a talent scout, which he had even before the dismissal wanted by McMahon, together with the other ex NXT: Samoa Joe.
After a very short and intense experience in Aew, Regal thus returns to doing what he does best and therefore discovering new great talents around the world to bring to WWE.
Update on William Regal's status
As reported in the last few hours by PW Insider, William Regal will be present in all the tapings of both Monday Night Raw and Friday Night Smackdown, with the former GM of NXT who will not be able to appear on-screen, in front of the cameras with a storyline role, at the behest of Tony Khan, who agreed to his departure from AEW without retaliation, but for a year wanted Regal not to appear on television.
The main reason that prompted WIlliam Regal to return to WWE, however, seems to be the presence of his son Charlie Dempsey at NXT, with the son of the former English wrestler, who looks terribly like him from the third brand, who will in fact be joined by his very father often.
William decided to return to WWE precisely to be by his son's side and to help him grow in the world of pro-wrestling, perhaps waiting to be able to act as his on-screen manager as well. Former WWE Tag Team Champion Rene Dupree believes William Regal's son, Charlie Dempsey, will get a top spot in the Stamford-based company.
"What does Regal's son look like? Is he tall good-looking kid? Yeah, that's gonna be the top English spot. (...) If there's gonna be a top English worker given a top spot it will be Regal's kid in my opinion. [Especially with Regal being back now?] Especially being Regal's kid," he said.
